KARACHI (Dunya News) – K-electric plans has announced to set up two power plants at Bin Qasim, producing 450 MW each to meet the rising demand of electricity in the city.

However, the KEL in its filing to Pakistan Stock Exchange further said that the board noted with concern that the favourable result of the company’s review petition on multi-year tariff determination 2017 which is pending in NEPRA is critical for financing and development of this project.

According to the official, during peak demand in summer, it reaches to 3000 to 3200 megawatt while the production ranges from 2600 to 2700 megawatt so the deficit touches mark of 500 megawatt.

After every passing year the consumption of electricity has been increasing by five percent per annum.
