Over 1000 Britons repatriated to UK from Pakistan amid coronavirus
There are around 100,000 Brits who reside in Pakistan.
LAHORE (Azhar Javaid) - British High Commisioner to Islamabad Dr Christian Turner have said that last weekend over 1000 British nationals have returned home to UK from three different hubs of Pakistan to UK. In total over 4000 people are expected to have returned home from Pakistan.
During online press briefing to Pakistani journalists based in U.K. British high commissioner told that there are around 100 000 Brits who reside in Pakistan and 21000 Brits are in Pakistan for a short term stay at any given time.
British High Commission (BHC) in Islamabad is working hard with the Government of Pakistan (GoP) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to help British nationals get home.
Our priority is to support the most vulnerable including the elderly and those with medical needs - staff at the British High Commission are working around the clock to help operating a shift system - it s the biggest priority now.
FCO is engaging with commercial airlines where commercial routes are still open and charted flights are only arranged as last resort to places where commercial airlines have stopped operating. Those who are booked with the charted flights still have pay for the travel.
