A shoe was hurled at Indian politician Suresh Kalmadi when he was brought to court on Tuesday.

A lawyer threw the slipper at 66-year-old Kalmadi, the Common Wealth Game organising committee chairman, as he was brought to the Patiala House Court in New Delhi.The police arrested the hurler, who was identified as Kapil Thakur.Kalmadi was being taken before a special CBI court after being arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in irregularities in Commonwealth Games projects.He has been charged with cheating, conspiracy and corruption regarding the allotment of contracts, which the prosecution argues were illegally allotted.The Congress lawmaker’s party membership has already been suspended.
