Jerusalem conflict: Malaysian army ready to 'play role'
Hussein says U.S. decision of moving embassy to Jerusalem is a slap in the face of Muslims.
(Web desk)- Malaysian defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein warned Israel that his armed forces are fully prepared to perform duties if their services are required.
Hussein termed U.S. decision of moving embassy to Jerusalem ‘a slap in the face of Muslims’.
“"We have to be prepared for any possibilities. The ATM [Malaysian Armed Forces] has always been ready, waiting for instructions from the top leadership," the Malaysian state news agency Bernama quoted Hishammuddin Hussein as saying.
"Let us pray that this dispute would not lead to chaos," Hussein added.
The biased, unilateral and reckless decision from ‘imprudent Trump’ has triggered protests across Muslim world including Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Algeria, Palestine, Tunisia, Indonesia and Jordan.
Israel occupied Jerusalem during 1967 war with the Arab world, but no country across globe recognizes it.
Jerusalem remains at the heart of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with Palestinians wanting East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, while Israel says the city, which is under Israeli occupation, cannot be divided.
