A youth was killed in Jammu Kashmir in clashes with security forces after they allegedly opened fire to disperse an agitating crowd on Tuesday. Twenty seven year old, Fayaz Ahmed died during clashes between stone pelters and security forces in Tengpora area in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters were agitating against the death of another youth who fell into a ditch and died after security forces reportedly chased the crowd in the same area last night. This latest incident has worsened the already tense situation in the area. Immediately after the incident a large procession of mourners along with the body of the youth, shouting pro- freedom slogans took to the streets. Additional police forces were rushed to the area to calm the situation. Meanwhile, authorities announced closure of schools and educational institutions in the Srinagar on Tuesday. The situation in the valley has been tense over the past weeks due to repeated clashes between protestors and the security forces. The latest round of demonstrations was sparked off by the death of at least 11 people blamed on government forces over the past two weeks and was among the biggest anti-India protests in two years.
