The US Senate called for a full and fair investigation into deadly ethnic clashes in southern Kyrgyzstan and urged all parties in the former Soviet republic to refrain from violence. The Senate, in a unanimously approved resolution. U.S government was working with the Kyrgyz government to make sure the refugees would be able to return home safely. The US urged the interm Kyrgyz governemnt to take immeaditae steps to restore democracy in the country. US demanded that the interim government should probe the violence and such an investigation should be complemented by an international investigation by a credible international body.
