UNSC to present a resolution on sanctions against Iran

The UN Security Council is to vote on a draft resolution today (Wednesday) to impose further sanctions on Iran over its suspected nuclear program.Mexico's UN ambassador Claude Heller, the council president for this month, informed reporters that the resolution would be submitted to the vote. Heller hoped that 12 of the 15 members would vote in the favor draft resolution.Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned that new United Nations sanctions could mean the end of talks over Irans nuclear energy program.U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said during a joint press conference with Ecuador President that the possible new United Nations Security Council sanctions that could apply to Iran may be the most stringent the country has faced.
