Floods hit Central Europe again, 18 dead in Poland

A second wave of floods in a week has hit central Europe, while in Poland, at least 18 people have been killed. Damage estimates run into hundreds of millions of dollars. In Poland, large swathes of the countryide were submerged by flood waters. In Slovakia, authorities have approved a 25 million euro aid package, for what has been described as the worst flood in a century. Thousands have been forced to leave their homes amid fears of increased flooding. In the Hungarian capital Budapest, workers trying to stave off the worst. Swollen rivers in northern Hungary are expected to peak at record heights. Meteorologists expect the rain to continue for several days in parts of central Europe.
