Summary

A bomb planted on a bicycle killed seven people in the capital of Helmand and injured 14 others today. The explosion, next one of Lashkar Gah's two bus stations, came as thousands of Nato and Afghan forces continue to battle insurgents for control of densely populated farmland around 20km outside the city. A spokesman for Helmand's Governor, Daoud Ahmadi, said a woman and one child were among the dead. Most of them were shopkeepers and passengers, he said. We don't know why they targeted here. There were no Afghan government convoys. No Nato convoys, just civilians. The Deputy Governor Satar Mirzaqwal said that three of the wounded were seriously hurt. Nato forces are facing stiff resistance parts of Marjah as bands of die-hard militants fight to keep control of their largest central Helmand stronghold.
