Summary
The Israeli Ambassador is summoned by the Britain Foreign Office today to answer charges that a hit squad stole the identities of six Britons as cover for an assassination plot of a Hamas leader in Dubai, while Ireland also expressed concern over the issue. As the Government was forced to react to public anxiety over the affair, Gordon Brown ordered a 'full investigation' into the way the assassins faked British passports before killing a commander of the Palestinian paramilitary group Hamas. An intelligence source told the Mail yesterday that MI6 was convinced that agents from Mossad - the feared Israeli secret service - were responsible for the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, the Hamas leader.
