Five men who were accused of killing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have been hanged in central jail Dhaka. Conformation of the execution was given by the Law Minister Shafique Ahmed.Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the president of Bangladesh during 1975 when he was killed along with his wife, three sons, two daughters-in-law and 20 others. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh had dismissed their appeals to commute the sentence.The Bangladeshi Prime MinisterSheikh Hasina returned to power earlier this year and promised the conclusion of the trial as one of her top priorities.Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi speaking to Dunya news said that there would be no immediate reaction to the execution but during a later stage statements would be issued by the opposition parties regarding the decision. Two fellow plotters are on the run abroad, while two died in the past and five have been executed today and thus a black chapter of the Bangladeshi history comes to an end today.
