The Turkish Chief of Staff announced on his website that Turkish commandos captured six pirates attempting to attack a ship in the Gulf of Aden.The statement said pirates were attacking an Indian ship called Jal Layak with heavy machine gun fire in the early hours of the morning. It said the hijack attempt had been prevented by the Turkish Gokova frigate and an operation by underwater assault commandos who were supported by helicopters.The Turkish commandos held the skiff boat and detained 6 pirates. They found a machine gun and knives on the skiff boat, the statement said.
