A quake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale rattled Haiti on Tuesday collapsing the presidential palace and numerous other government buildings in the countrys capital Port-Au-Prince. High toll is reportedly feared in wake of the quake.Communications to the island have been severed, the most impoverished in the western hemisphere, were cut in the wake of the massive earthquake, which produced several aftershocks and prompted a tsunami warning. But after some time the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) has cancelled its tsunami warning for the powerful earthquake that has struck Haiti. US President Barack Obama sympathised with the victims. Officials also said Obama told them to start preparing in case humanitarian assistance was needed. The State Department, the US Agency for International Development and US Southern Command have started to coordinate.
