New NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen has sought greater Russian assistance to win the war against the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan. During his talks with President Dmitry Medvedev, Rasmussen called on Russian government to send more helicopters to Afghanistan and intensify training for the country's anti-drug police. Rasmussen said he had presented Russian leaders with a list of concrete proposals on helping the Western military alliance confront the Taliban insurgency. There's a lot of potential to increase cooperation, he said.NATO, however, failed to get an immediate pledge of assistance from Moscow.
