Other residents lit candles outside a Jewish centre, one of several sites from luxury hotels to the city's biggest railway station targeted by the gunmen for three days. On Wednesday night, hundreds of youngsters, men and women, drew paintings, wrote peace messages and put hand impressions on a wall saying the city stood united against any attacks on its cosmopolitan fabric. Mumbai police held a special parade in Mumbai city to pay homage to those who lost their lives in the carnage. India's most well known sand artist Sudershan Patnaik payid homage to the victims of last year's Mumbai attacks by creating a replica of the Taj Mahal hotel on the sand beach of Puri in Eastern India on Wednesday.The sculpture was engraved with a message condemning terrorism. Ten gunmen landed on Mumbai shores by boats at sunset on November 26, 2008 and fired indiscriminately at a busy railway station, a Jewish settlement, a cafe and luxury hotels.Several people were held hostage for the next three days and at least 166 people were killed before commandoes smoked out the last of the attackers on November 28.One gunman was taken alive and presently he is facing trial in a special court in Mumbai.
