Summary
At least 12 people have been killed and more than 80 injured including Indian embassy guards in a car bomb explosion in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The blast occurred near the interior ministry office and the Indian embassy. Two vehicles were badly damaged, one of them labeled as a United Nations vehicle. In the most recent attack in mid-September, a suicide car bomber rammed into an Italian military convoy on a road leading to the airport. That blast killed six Italian soldiers and 10 Afghan civilians. India said that its embassy was obviously the intended target of the suicide car bomb attack in Kabul. I believe the suicide bomb was directed against the embassy because the suicide bomber came up to the outside perimeter wall of the embassy in a car loaded with explosives, obviously with the aim of targeting the embassy, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao told reporters in New Delhi.
