Summary Mitt Romney rolled out a disgruntled former supporter of President Obama for new campaign.

The president, meanwhile, slammed his Republican rival in the November 6 election, accusing him of shocking dishonesty by allegedly refusing to acknowledge he plans $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted toward rich people and mis-characterizing the White House incumbents plans for reviving the economy. Both ads were released a day after official data showed the US jobless rate dipping from 8.1 to 7.8 percent -- the lowest level since Obama became president in January 2009.Obama pounced on the figure as evidence the sputtering economy is finally gaining traction, while Romneys camp said many Americans were simply giving up on trying to find work because the country is not enjoying a real recovery. In the Romney ad released Saturday, a small-business owner identified as Melanie McNamara said she voted for Obama in 2008 but the president can count her out this time.I am disappointed in Barack Obama as my president because he promised to bring us all together, that we are all going to be able to prosper. I dont see the prospering, said McNamara. The ad quoted government figures as showing the number of unemployed women in the United States has grown by about 450,000 to 5.46 million since Obama took power. She added: Being a woman, you think about your children and you think about their future. And what I want to think about is a future that has jobs, that our economy is growing again. That is important to women and that is important to me.The Obama campaigns new ad attacking Romney is entitled simply Dishonest, and argues that Romney has a penchant for not telling the truth. It said that in Wednesdays first presidential debate, Romney denied he is in favor of his own $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted toward the wealthy. The reason, the ad said, is that Romney knows the plan would be a gut punch for the struggling middle class. It went on to say that while Romney has repeatedly accused the president of planning to raise taxes on the middle class, the only study he cites is by an organization stacked with his own cronies. The chairman used to work at Romneys old company and the board includes former US vice president Dick Cheney, the ad says. These dishonest ads arent just horseplay, theyve become the status quo for Mitt Romney. If we cant trust him to be honest now, how can we trust him in the White House,? the narrator in the Obama ad asks.
