Sri Lanka imposes daily 2-hour power cuts

Daily power cuts of more than two hours are being imposed across Sri Lanka because of a drought and problems at a coal-fired generating plant.Ceylon Electricity Board Vice Chairman Anura Wijayapala says officials will decide on Wednesday whether to lengthen the outages, which began last week.Wijayapala says it will take two weeks to fix the problems at the generating plant, which were triggered by a transmission line failure. Poor monsoon rains in reservoir areas have also hurt generating capacity.
