Summary Fires in northern California burn thousands of acres.
Five fires in northern Californias Colusa County have burned nearly 1,133 hectares (2,800 acres) as of Sunday night.The fires are burning west of Maxwell, California, or an hours drive from the state capital in Sacramento. Twentyeight engines, six fire crews, six air tankers, two helicopters, five dozers and 150 personnel were involved in the firefighting effort, according to Cal Fire.Cal Fire officials also said two additional fires in Mendocino National Forest have merged with nearly 566 hectares (1,400 acres) burned. That fire threatens 25 structures, including campgrounds. Cal Fire estimates that it will take a couple of days to contain the remaining fires.
