Summary Former Indian army chief Gen VK Singh has been summoned by Delhi court in defamation case.

Delhi court on Friday summoned former Indian Army chief, General Vijay Kumar Singh, and four others in a defamation case filed by Lieutenant General (retired) Tejinder Singh.Singh along with others would have to appear before the court on July 20.Tejinder Singh had requested the court to initiate criminal proceedings against V K Singh and four other officials after the army headquarters in a press release on March 05 had accused him of having attempted to bribe then Army Chief Vijay Kumar Singh.The former chief, General Vijay Kumar Singh had alleged in an interview, that a defence equipment lobbyist (without naming Tejinder) had offered him rupees 14 crore (140 million or $2.8 million) to approve the purchase of 600 sub-standard vehicles and he had reported that matter to Defence Minister Arackaparambil Kurien Antony.The countrys federal police, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter and the agencys sleuths have already recorded General V K Singhs statement and they had also questioned Tejinder Singh.
