India is celebrating its 63rd Independence Day while Black Day is being observed in Occupied Kashmir. The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his annual Independence Day speech from the Red Fort said that India desires peace with all its neighbours in South Asia. An impregnable ground-to-air security apparatus was put in place in the city. He said, We want peace with Muslims. We want to create an environment that will benefit the entire South Asia. Dr Singh stresses need for corruption free government machinery. He said the government gave high priority to the welfare of farmers and it did not want any of its citizens to live in poverty. He said the country needed a foreign policy that should work for India's interests in a changing world. We have succeeded in having such a policy to a great extent, he said. Manmohan said terrorism is the biggest threat to the global peace. India has improved its security agencies after Mumbai terror attacks. On the other hand, rallies will be conducted in all parts of Indian held Kashmir on Hurriat conferences appeal while all business centers and educational institutes are closed.
