Summary

Defending the Pak-India joint statement on Wednesday, in the Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, It is impossible for any government in India to work for full normalization of relations with Pakistan, unless that country fulfills the commitment to not allow its territory to be used for terrorism against India. He also added that the Pak dossier made it clear that the LeT had inspired, financed and executed the Mumbai attacks and also that this was the first time that Pakistan had formally briefed India about a terror attack in India. He said that what India had got from Pakistan was much more than what it had got during the NDA regime. Manmohan Singh further added No dossier on Balochistan has been handed over to me. However, Singh said that, later, he would give a detailed reply on all issues pertaining to the talks with Pakistan, the end user agreement with the United States and parlays at the G8 meeting in Italy. Media reports said that Gilani had handed over to Singh a dossier on alleged Indian involvement in the unrest in Balochistan, as well as in the terrorist attacks upon the Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore as well as a police academy in the eastern Pakistan city last March. It also said that action on terrorism should not be linked to the composite dialogue process -- which includes talks on the disputed territory of Kashmir.
