A search for a German cow has intensified, with a $14,450 reward being offered, officials say. Yvonne the cow fled from her farm in the village of Zangberg May 24, narrowly escaping slaughter, The Guardian reported. The cow had been taking sanctuary in nearby forests until she was almost hit by a police car while crossing a road. After that incident, Gut Aiderbichl, an animal sanctuary, bought Yvonne from the farm owner for $867 and is using several techniques to try to lure the cow to her new home.Last week, a bull named Ernst, who has a deep baritone moo that will appeal to Yvonne, as well as a particularly masculine musk, was brought in to attract Yvonne. He is the George Clooney of bulls, said Michael Aufhauser, founder of the sanctuary. The German tabloid Bild offered a $14,450 reward Saturday for Yvonnes safe capture and return. Aufhauser brought out a helicopter to search for the cow Monday. Should the helicopter not spot the cow, her son, Friesi will be put in the woods to call out to his mother.We know that the bond between mother cows and their sons is very strong. She will not be able to ignore him, said Aufhauser. Zangberg Mayor Franz Markl says he is pleased the missing cow has been bringing so much attention to the village in during the summer news lull.
