A very rare 'Post Office two penny Blue Mauritius' stamp was auctioned for 900,000 pounds.

A vast stamp collection owned by Sir Humphrey Cripps was set for auction. The auction featured over 80 volumes of stamps with one stamp reaching 900,000 pounds.Sir Humphrey bought many of the worlds most important and valuable stamps over a long period of time. The collection has been split it into nine separate auctions. The auction featured stamps from the former British Empire, and the star attraction of the auction was a very rare Post Office two penny Blue Mauritius stamp, often regarded as the most famous and most rare stamp in the world today. It was produced in Mauritius in 1847 and was sold for 900,000 pounds at the auction.Another rare stamp on account of a printing error was the missing virgin stamp from the Virgin Islands, with only a handful of these stamps in existence, the stamp reached 120,000 pounds at auction.
