A hotel in Jerusalem launched the city's second annual waiters' race copying a French tradition.

In formal uniforms, some thirty waiters took to a 200 meter race track at an East Jerusalem hotel, balancing trays of food, bottle of wine and a full glass of red wine. The aim of the race is to check the waiters professionally and second it is a sportive way to promote the service at the hotel. Competitors raced down the hotels car park and neighbouring streets, attempting to finish it as quickly as possible and without spilling the wine glass. Out of the first three finishers, the one who lost the least amount of wine from the glass balanced on his tray was declared the winner.The winner finished the race in 55 seconds winning the opportunity to represent his workplace in the annual waiter’s race held in Paris.
