The buyer was a Geneva resident who was fascinated by its rarity and everything to do with Sir Edmund Hillary. The hide is considered historic because it is associated with the journey of Hillary in 1960s to find if the yeti was real or not.The seller, a Swiss collector, purchased the item at a London auction in 1978 for about $1,900.
