Survey: Two thirds Americans in favor of driving retest at age 65

Summary A survey by Marist Poll showed that two thirds of Americans said 65 is the age when drivers should have to retake their road test. More than 1000 people participated in the survey.

According to the survey 84 percent of the Americans under the age of 30 were in favor of a driving retest at the age of 65. When it came to Americans aged between 30 to 44 years, 76 percent supported the idea. 62 percent of the people aged between 45 to 59 years were also in support. More importantly, almost half of people aged above 60 also think it is a good idea, according to the poll.According to the data by the Federal Highway Administration, there were about 21.6 million licensed drivers aged over 70 in 2008 which is around 10 percent of all U.S. drivers.
