LAHORE (Web Desk) -- Podey Pizza, a business originating from Los Angeles (LA), has initiated the sale of ‘pot-infused’ pizza sauce, which is avaliable at marijuana dispensaires in San Francisco, Washington State, and Colorado.
One 5-ounce jar of this sauce is priced at $20 and comprises of 300mg of medical cannabis per jar. On the other hand, every pizza includes 250 mg of ethanol-extracted tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
According to Steve Thomas, Podey Pizza s vice president of operations,’this amount is enough for one large pizza or two smaller ones, and you can eat three slices and be fully medicated".
Thomas considers his ‘pot-laced’ pizza sauce as a better alternative for medical marijuana users who do not want to use other sweet options such as brownies.
Thomas said,"we spent a lot of time getting it right so the sauce did not taste green and we made 150-200 pizzas, and would invite people to taste them. We even put ads looking for people who were 300 pounds plus to make sure the dosage was right."
Thomas said that the sauce was somewhat sugary and consisted of tomatoes, mixed with cannabis-laced safflower oil."We may come out with a garlickly version or more of a butter sauce," he added.
Podey Pizza is advertising itself as the world s original pot-laced pizza sauce, but ever since Colorado and Washington have legally recognized marijuana, several companies have been trying to to make money via selling pot-laced pizzas.
Pizza and pot may be a natural combination, but Thomas said that in order to prevent legal issues, retailing was presently restricted to dispensaries.
"We would love to sell to Papa John s,that’s the dream," Thomas chuckled.
