Baristas whip up the largest cappucino ever made

Dunya News

Croatian baristas set a world record for the world's largest cup of cappuccino.

The world record for the largest cappuccino ever made was set by Croatian baristas on Saturday in Zagreb. The ambitious attempt featured one thousand baristas from all over the country who gathered in Zagreb to operate 22 coffee machines installed on a public stage at Zagreb main square. In little more than three hours, the hard-working baristas managed to fill up a giant coffee cup with 2,012 liters of freshly made cappuccino, which traditionally consists of one part espresso coffee, one part warm milk and one part milk foam. The event was sponsored by the Austria-based Julius Meinl Coffee company, as a way of commemorating 150 years of its existence. In total there are about one thousand baristas here. A thousand people, really, who do this job every day, who make cappuccinos every single day, and they are certainly good at this. What is also interesting is that we make cappuccinos by the book, so - one third espresso, one third milk foam - I mean warm milk, sorry - and one third milk foam. So each and every cappuccino here is made exactly how it should be, manager at Julius Meinl Group, Marko Crnogorac, said.Although a previous record was claimed by 80 baristas in Prague who had filled a giant cup with 2,117 liters of cappuccino in 2009, the Croatians feat is considered the first officially certified record in that category by the Guinness World Records, whose representative was present at the event. This record category is a new record category at Guinness World Records. And always when theres a new record category there is a minimum requirement which has to be fulfilled. And in this case for the largest cappuccino - actually largest cup of cappuccino - it has to be a minimum of 1,500 litres, Guinness World Records adjudicator, Seyda Subasi-Gemici, said.
