An unusual calf was born with two mouth and three eyes in Ahmednagar district of Indias western Maharashtra state on Tuesday.The cow is owned by Chandrkant Baburao Bhalekar, a farmer by profession.Veterinary doctor, Vinayak Shinde, who has been looking after the calf, said that it was a genetic disorder that is rarely seen in animals.In Sonewadi village, the cow owned by Chandrakant Bhalekar, has delivered a calf, which has one head, two mouths, three eyes and two ears. Such kind of case rarely occurs among lakhs of deliveries. It has become a centre of attraction for the locals, as they are visiting frequently to take a glimpse of the calf, said Shinde.The locals believe that the calf with two mouths is a divine miracle.Although both, the mother cow as well as baby calf are in good health, but the Vets are worried about the survival of the baby calf.Genetic abnormalities occur when genes are missing, in excess, mutated or in the wrong location (translocation). A few genes can directly cause an abnormality, which are rare. Usually, these genes are recessive; the two must be present to cause an abnormality. Both parents must be carriers of the gene for a calf to be abnormal.
