Summary Sam Ray has vowed to use the Apple Iphone for the rest of his life.
(Web Desk) -- Siri, the digital assistant on Apple’s Iphone is known for its incompetency when it comes to voice commands with many instances of accidential dialings at the wrong time being the norm. However during a recent incident involving a U.S. citizen faced with mortal threat, Siri came good.
The teenager named Sam Ray, aged 18, was repairing his truck when the truck supporting the vehicle collapsed on him causing the nearly 5000-pound vehicle to crush on his body. Apparently luck wasn’t on his side either as his location made it even more difficult to find him.
As Ray struggled to get free, he accidentally activated Siri. Noticing that the digital assistant had been activated, Ray repeatedly shouted out ‘call 911’ into the phone that was in his pocket. Cue sheer luck as Siri dialed the emergency hotline number.
The call was connected to Rutherford County where the dispatcher, Christina Lee, listened intently from the other end. Believing it to be a ‘pocket dial’ at first, Christina quickly realized that the call for help was genuine. Ray soon shouted in his address to help the dispatchers find him.
The volunteer firefighters soon arrived at the scene and managed to pull ray out of the vehicle. The ordeal for the young Ray lasted for almost 40 mins.
