Summary Chairman Senate says govt is pursuing agenda to use technology as vehicle of change.
“We believe that investing in science and technology education is a precursor for developing intellectual capital if science and technology implementation is to contribute to sustainable development.We are focusing on building precious human resource and enhancing indigenous capacities” he added while addressing the concluding session of the 6th Vacuum and Surface Sciences Conference of Asia and Australia (VASSCAA-6).He said that the best possible way to achieve this objective is through the strong interaction among the research organizations, industries and universities” Talking about science and technology as agent of change, the Chairman said that it has brought a revolution in the working conditions, thinking and the structure of our society.The nations that are abreast with the latest technologies will surely be benefiting from the future outcome, while the others will simply be left out.At the same time, however, those who have the technological know-how must be willing to share it with others who are trying to be partners in the quest for progress and prosperity.The Chairman appreciated holding of such conferences that surely provide an excellent opportunity for establishing closer ties, sharing experiences and finding solutions to common problems.Talking about the importance of having technical expertise at disposal, the Chairman said that these valuable human resource can help the developing nations in fighting emerging challenges at the modern battle fronts including the economic front.‘The vacuum technology throughout the world has played a dramatic role not only in the improvement of the quality but also provided new dimensions to the industrial processes. Pakistan vacuum society can help in development of renewable energy resources.We have to join our hands to utilize the potential of this technology in achieving high level of reliability in order to export our products with pride’, He added.The Chairman said that we should not forget that the scientific community has an obligation to communicate in a balanced, comprehensive and timely manner. There is also an ongoing need to inform and inspire the younger generation about the opportunities within the world of science.Such are the forums that reflect our resolve to share our respective experiences and forge goodwill, and it is this very spirit that I hope you will take back to your respective countries.The Chairman said that I am sure that irrespective of the problems and difficulties, Pakistan Vacuum Society will continue its efforts to provide scientific and technological community with high standards of latest knowledge and training in the field of vacuum.The Chairman commended Pakistan Vacuum Society for organizing this mega event for the first time in Pakistan and he also extended thanks to International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications comprising 32 members National Vacuum Societies who reposed its confidence in Pakistan Vacuum Society to hold this event in Pakistan.During this conference, the exhibition held side by side was visited by a large number of researchers, industrialists and students that was another healthy scientific activity that needs to be applauded.
