LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana has said her side will head into the Asia Cup with a broader tournament strategy rather than placing extra emphasis on any single encounter.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore on Monday, Fatima said preparations for the continental competition were progressing well and the players were determined to produce consistent performances throughout the tournament.
“For us, every match in the Asia Cup is important,” she said, stressing that Pakistan’s attention would not be restricted to one particular fixture.
The skipper said familiarity with conditions in Dubai should help the team as it prepares for the competition. She added that the players had reviewed shortcomings from their previous series and would seek to avoid repeating those mistakes.
Fatima also reflected on her experience in England’s The Hundred, saying participation in the tournament had significantly contributed to her development as a cricketer.
She described becoming the first Pakistani woman cricketer to feature in the English competition as a matter of pride.
The Pakistan captain expressed hope that strong performances by Pakistani players in overseas competitions would create opportunities for more women cricketers from the country to secure places in leading international leagues.
Fatima said exposure to competitive overseas cricket provided valuable experience and could ultimately benefit the national side.
