LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased the annual registration fees for departmental cricket teams and issued a new policy governing departmental cricket competitions, prompting concerns from several departments over the higher financial burden.

According to the notification, the annual fee for a Grade-I departmental team has been increased to Rs15 million, while Grade-II Gold and Grade-II Silver teams will be required to pay Rs4.2 million and Rs4 million, respectively.

The PCB has also introduced minimum salary requirements for players. Under the new policy, Grade-I departments must pay at least one player a minimum monthly salary of Rs125,000, equivalent to Rs1.5 million annually.

For Grade-II competitions, Gold teams must pay players a minimum of Rs75,000 per month, while Silver teams are required to offer at least Rs50,000 per month. Departments have also been instructed to sign players on one-year contracts.

Sources said several departments have expressed reservations over the increase in annual fees, arguing that they already bear all operational and team-related expenses. They maintained that the registration fee had previously been raised from Rs3 million to Rs5 million, and the latest increase to Rs15 million would place an additional financial burden on participating departments.

The new policy also outlines match fees and daily allowances for domestic tournaments, including the President's Trophy Grade-I First-Class, President's Cup One-Day, and President's Trophy Grade-II Gold and Silver competitions.

Under the revised structure, Grade-I players will receive a match fee of Rs10,000, while reserve players will be paid Rs5,000. A daily allowance of Rs5,000 has also been approved. For Grade-II competitions, the match fee has been fixed at Rs5,000, with a daily allowance of Rs4,000.

Meanwhile, the PCB has convened an important meeting on June 29 to discuss the implementation of the new departmental cricket policy and address concerns raised by participating departments.
