SYLHET (Dunya News) – Defeat is staring at Pakistan as they scored 200 runs losing half the side at tea break while chasing a daunting 437-run target on the fourth day of the second Test against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Salman Ali Agha was batting on 25 and Muhammad Rizwan on 15 at the break.

Earlier, Pakistan lost openers Azan Awais (21) and Abdullah Fazal (6) at total 41. Skipper Shan Masood and veteran Babar Azam defied Bangladesh bowling attack before the latter was caught behind for 47. Shan seemed to be heading for a big score but fell to Taijul Islam for 71.

Saud Shakeel once again proved a failure as he could score 6 runs.

Nahid Rana and Taijul captured two wickets each for 43 and 62 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged one wicket conceding 41 runs.

THIRD DAY

Bangladesh set Pakistan a challenging target of 437 runs for victory after a strong batting performance. They were bowled out for 390 in their second innings.

Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim starred with a brilliant century. He formed a crucial partnership with Litton Das (69) after early pressure when captain Najmul Hossain Shanto fell for 15.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 19 runs to the total.

For Pakistan, medium pacer Khurram Shahzad led the bowling attack with figures of 4 for 86, while Sajid Khan took three wickets and Mohammad Abbas took one wicket and Hasan Ali also claimed a scalp.

Earlier in the innings, Bangladesh had lost Mahmudul Hasan Joy (52), Mominul Haque (30), and Tanzid Hasan (4) on the second day.

Pakistan, in their first innings, were bowled out for 232 runs. They resumed day two at 21 without loss but quickly collapsed, losing both openers early. Azaan scored 13 and Abdullah made 9.

Captain Shan Masood scored 21, while Babar Azam top-scored with 68. Other contributions came from Saud Shakeel (8), Salman Ali Agha (21), Mohammad Rizwan (13), Hasan Ali (18), Sajid Khan (38), and Khurram Shahzad (10), while Mohammad Abbas failed to score.

For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam took three wickets each, while Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets apiece.
