Summary Pakistan women face Zimbabwe in second T20I in Karachi with 1-0 lead, aiming to build momentum ahead of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan women's national cricket team will take on Zimbabwe women's national cricket team in the second Twenty20 International of their three-match series under floodlights on Thursday at National Bank Stadium. The third and final match is scheduled for Friday.
Pakistan head into the fixture with a 1-0 lead after a record-breaking 153-run victory in the opening match. The hosts had posted an imposing 237 for five, before dismissing Zimbabwe for just 84 runs.
At least two changes are expected in the Pakistan line-up under a rotation policy, as the team management looks to test bench strength ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
The series serves as part of Pakistan’s preparations for the global tournament. Following this series, the side will travel to Ireland for a tri-nation T20 tournament from May 28 to June 4, featuring Ireland and West Indies.
In the first match, Pakistan rewrote several records. It was their highest-ever total in women’s T20 internationals and also their biggest victory margin in terms of runs. Previously, their largest win had been by 147 runs against Malaysia in 2018.
Opener Ayesha Zafar starred with a blistering 47-ball century, smashing 15 fours and two sixes. In doing so, she broke the record of Muneeba Ali for the fastest T20I hundred by a Pakistan women’s player. Her unbeaten 102 also ranks among the highest individual scores for Pakistan in the format.
Captain Fatima Sana continues to lead from the front and has now become one of the leading fast bowlers for Pakistan in women’s T20Is, with 46 wickets to her name.
Despite a scheduled training session on Wednesday, both teams opted for rest, with players spending time on personal engagements ahead of the crucial second match.
