DHAKA (Dunya News) – Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday after bowling out the visitors on the final day.
Chasing a target of 268 runs, Pakistan suffered an early collapse as Imam-ul-Haq and captain Shan Masood were both dismissed for 2 runs each. Debutant Azan Awais, who had scored a century in the first innings, also departed after making 15 runs, leaving Pakistan struggling at 21-3.
Pakistan later lost wickets at regular intervals despite resistance from the middle order and were eventually bowled out, handing Bangladesh a 104-run victory in the series opener.
Earlier, Bangladesh declared their second innings at 240-9 after resuming the day at 152-3. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 87 runs, while Mominul Haque added 56.
For Pakistan, Hasan Ali and Noman Ali claimed three wickets each, while Shaheen Afridi picked up two wickets.
Bangladesh had earlier posted 413 runs in their first innings to take a 27-run lead over Pakistan, who were bowled out for 386.
Debutant Azan Awais was the standout performer for Pakistan with a brilliant 103-run knock in the first innings, while Abdullah Fazal scored 60, Mohammad Rizwan made 59 and Salman Ali Agha contributed 58 runs.
