The 41-year-old will take on responsibilities starting with Scotland’s tour of Nepal. The team’s upcoming assignment is the ICC CWC League Two, where Scotland will face Nepal and the USA.

Azhar Ali expressed his excitement about working with Scotland, noting that he has a prior connection with the team from early in his career. He said he is eager to help the team grow and support the talented squad. 

In November 2025, Azhar Ali resigned from his position at the PCB as selector and head of youth development, ending a 12-month tenure in that role.
