Summary Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in PSL 11 after posting 173 and bowling out their rivals for 97 in Karachi.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Peshawar Zalmi delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in the 19th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Saturday.
After being invited to bat first, Zalmi posted a competitive total of 173 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs, built on a strong middle-order partnership and late acceleration. Lahore, in response, suffered a dramatic batting collapse and were bowled out for just 97 in 17 overs, unable to cope with a disciplined and aggressive bowling display.
Zalmi’s innings began on a positive note, with Mohammad Haris providing early momentum through an attacking 18 off 10 deliveries. However, Shaheen Afridi struck early to remove him, giving Lahore an initial breakthrough.
The innings was then stabilised by captain Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis, who combined for a crucial 109-run partnership. The pair showed composure and control, steadily building the innings while keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Babar anchored the innings with a measured 43 off 40 balls, hitting three boundaries and a six, before being dismissed by Usama Mir.
Mendis, meanwhile, played a standout knock, scoring 74 off 48 deliveries. His innings featured five fours and four sixes, as he dominated the Qalandars’ bowling attack and registered another half-century in the tournament.
Following the departure of the set batters, Michael Bracewell added impetus with a quickfire 21 off 10 balls, including a four and two sixes, helping Zalmi push past the 170 mark. Late wickets fell in the closing overs, with Mustafizur Rahman and Shaheen Afridi picking up key dismissals, but Zalmi managed to finish strongly at 173 for 7.
In reply, Lahore Qalandars endured a disastrous start to their chase. Mohammad Naeem was dismissed for just one run early in the innings, putting immediate pressure on the batting line-up.
Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique attempted to rebuild with a brief partnership, both scoring 21 runs each. However, their dismissals triggered a collapse that Lahore never recovered from. Shafique fell to Nahid Rana, while Fakhar was removed by Bracewell shortly after.
The middle order crumbled under sustained pressure, with Haseebullah managing only three runs and Asif Ali dismissed without scoring. Sikandar Raza added 14 runs but was unable to halt the slide, as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
Sufiyan Muqeem and Bracewell led the bowling effort, claiming key wickets to dismantle Lahore’s batting. Muqeem’s timely strikes further deepened the crisis, while Nahid Rana and Aamer Jamal chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
Shaheen Afridi, who had earlier impressed with the ball by taking three wickets, was unable to influence the outcome with the bat and was dismissed for five runs. Usama Mir also fell cheaply, as Lahore slipped further into trouble.
The innings came to an end at 97, with Dunith Wellalage top-scoring among the lower order with 20 runs, as Zalmi sealed a comprehensive victory.
The result marks Peshawar Zalmi’s fourth win in PSL 11, underlining their growing momentum in the tournament through a balanced performance with both bat and ball.
