Yasir Khan to join PLTA's National 'High Performance' Camp
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former Pakistan number 2, and veteran Davis Cupper Yasir Khan is set to join the high performing coaching team put together by Pakistan tennis legend and former no. 1 Rashid Malik, here at the Punjab Tennis Academy at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore.
Malik s high-voltage tennis summer camp, aptly labeled the High Performance Tennis Training Camp 2022, sponsored by Ali Embroidery Mills and organised by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), has been designed to intensely train upcoming youngsters, aiming to take their game to the next level. Accordingly, Malik and the PLTA has requested the services of the best tennis players and coaches the country can offer, including Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan, former Pakistan number 2, Shahzad Khan, former top-ranked junior, Ahmed Babar, and the legendary Rashid Malik, himself. And, now, Yasir Khan is also set to join this star-studded lineup.
The news of Khan s arrival is welcomed by the organizers as well as the participants, since Khan brings with him years of playing and teaching experience acquired both nationally and internationally.
While undoubtedly cementing his place among the top ranks of the country s tennis fraternity for several decades now - of which nearly one decade he spent as part of the prestigious Davis Cup team - Yasir has furthermore competed internationally in tournaments in Spain, Qatar, as well as the United States.
He has spent several months of training and competing in the US, year in and year out, making him one of the best qualified trainers of the sport that the country can offer. He has, further, also coached former junior tennis players like Natalia Zaman and Nauman Aftab to wins at ITF tournaments within and without the country.
