Indian media claims World Cup trophy is replica

After India was crowned world champions, the Indian media speculated that the trophy was a replica.

Reports by the Indian media suggest that the trophy presented to the Indian cricket team is not real because it did not bare the logo of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The media suggests that the original trophy is with the Customs Department because of the non-payment of duty.Tournament Director Sourav Naik said that the trophy would be sent to Dubai, from where India would receive the real trophy with the logo of the ICC.On the other hand, a spokesperson for the ICC declared all these reports as baseless. He said that the trophy given to world champions India was real and it bears a visible ICC logo.
