Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal criticise Ramiz Raja over uncalled for remarks
The duo has alleged that commentator Ramiz Raja talks about things over which he has no authority
Hyderabad : (Dunya News) – Seasoned Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal Thursday took on Pakistan veteran and renowned commentator Ramiz Raja for his unwarranted criticism of senior players.
The duo was addressing the media here at the Hyderabad Press Club.
Salman Butt complained that he was not being selected in the team despite his exceptional performance in the domestic cricket. He lamented that Muhammad Amir was regularly being given chances to play international cricket despite the fact that both he and Amir served punishments after spot fixing episode. “Only selectors and coach could solve this mystery”, said Butt.
Salman Butt hailed the role of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in burnishing the potential of young local players, who, by virtue of sharing dressing rooms with world class players, flaunt their talent fearlessly.
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also reaped the benefits of PSL”, opined Butt.
On this occasion, the experienced wicket keeper Kamran Akmal posited that New Zealand remains a formidable side irrespective of the fact that Pakistan Cricket Team has been in a supreme touch for last one-and-a-half years. Akmal was of the opinion that Pakistan could surmount the Kiwis should they play positive cricket.
Kamran Akmal also expressed exasperation over his non-selection in the team even after exhibiting a tremendous form in the domestic cricket.
Reflecting on Pakistan 2-0 routing at the hands of Sri Lanka in the latest test series, Akmal said that playing three fast bowlers was a mistake.
“Results would have been different had team management gone with two pacers”, Akmal suggested.
Kamran Akmal also lauded Sarfraz Ahmad’s captaincy. “Pakistan has been producing world class performances over past one year, thanks to Sarfraz’s captaincy”, concluded Akmal.
