KARACHI (Dunya News) – National sport, hockey, besides struggling for funds and revival is now humiliated as expensive AstroTurf that cost at least Rs 50 million for import from Belgium was driven over with around 15 motorcycles, reported Tuesday.





Men who can be seen in video recordings of the incident rode their motorcycles on the turf inside the stadium that is not allowed by the law.

Some motorcyclists had women as pillion riders on their bikes.

Experts have dubbed it as negligency of hockey federation stating that such ignorance has caused the sport debacle.

The incident has come in a day after Sports Minister of Sindh, Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar challenged Punjab counterpart and ministers of other provinces to compete for 50 push-ups against him.

Mahar has received a lot of flak for allegedly not focusing on his responsibilities and ministerial developments and indulging in unnecessary lip-service about his fitness.

While talking to Dunya News, Mahar vowed to take strict action against the violators of the law. 

He stated that he was very busy at the time with government responsibilities and would not spare those involved in the incident in Abdul SattarEdhi Hockey Stadium.

Earlier today, locals in his constituency in Ghotki protested and raised slogans against their elected representative over sewage and dumps in their localities.
