Summary Greece's Anna Korakaki won the gold in women's 25 metre pistol event at Rio Olympics on Tuesday.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - Anna Korakaki picked up Greece s first gold at the Rio Olympics, and first since Athens 12 years ago, in Tuesday s women s 25m pistol at the Deodoro shooting range.

The 20-year-old student beat German Monika Karsh 8-6 in the gold medal match. Swiss shooter Heidi Diethelm Gerber took bronze after comfortably accounting for China s Zhang Jinging 8-4 in their face-off.

Korakaki, who is coached by her father, was also responsible for Greece s only other medal so far in Brazil, a bronze in the opening day s 10m air pistol.

And she reckons that had played a part in her topping the podium here.

"I can say it helped me because my mentality has changed. I already won a medal two days ago," she said.

With one Olympic title in the bag, she confessed to wanting more.

"Goals never stop, so I am dreaming of more medals in my career."
