FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Former World Amateur Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif is awaiting cash reward by the government three years after announcement.

The former world champion criticised the government while talking to the media after inaugurating a snooker academy at Susan Road.

Asif said that players do not get the needed encouragement after they perform well.

Asif will serve as the head coach of the ten-table academy in Faisalabad. He lauded the establishment of the academy and said that there is no lack of talent in the country. He self-sponsored himself to win several awards, he added.

However, he said that three years after the government announced a reward for winning world championship for Pakistan, he still has not got anything.

Asif said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had assured him of transferring the reward money right after inquiry.

The former champion further said that the aspirants are not being given facilities on government level.

Asif had won IBSF World Snooker Championship in 2012 which was held in Bulgaria.
