Summary Khan vowed to establish a boxing academy in Islamabad's sports complex
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan-born British national Amir Khan on Saturday has said that Peshawar massacre is a painful incident.
He expressed his sorrow over the attack while talking to the media in Islamabad’s sports complex.
He said that the world is needed to be told for grooming of the youth that Pakistan is a peaceful country. The international fame boxer also announced to establish a boxing academy in Islamabad’s sports complex.
Peshawar Army Public School attack could not be forgotten, he added. He announced to hold a training session in name of the martyred youth in Pakistan’s federal capital on December 26. An academy will also be launched in the following two weeks.
He said that the youth is needed to be brought on the forefront of sports. Facilities for women participants would also be made in the academy and fitness club, he added.
Earlier on December 16, the nation observed first anniversary of the deadly attack on an army-run school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa s Peshawar. Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) militants had stormed the education facility and opened indiscriminate fire in 2014. More than 100 innocent students embraced martyrdom while several teachers also lost lives in bid to protect the children.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif attended a key ceremony held in the school while Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif among top government and armed forces representatives were also present. PM Nawaz vowed to continue hunt for terrorists no matter where they might find safe havens in the country.
