Summary The convoy has been organised by the Amir Khan Foundation and Penny Appeal.

(Web Desk) - Former boxing champion Amir Khan is leading an aid convoy to help refugees arriving in Lesbos.

The convoy, packed with donated food, water, clothing and hygiene kits, set off today from the two-time world champion’s community gym in Bolton - and is due to reach Athens on Friday after a 2,000 mile journey.

The Amir Khan Foundation has teamed up with international aid charity Penny Appeal to deliver much-needed help to the refugees who are arriving on the shores of Greece with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing.

People can still donate towards the aid convoy campaign, with any money raised going towards the purchasing of essential items for refugees.

Just £50 can provide food and shelter and people can donate online at www.pennyappeal.org
