Summary Daniel Gaunt and Scott Jamieson shared the lead after day one of the Russian Open on Thursday.
MOSCOW (AFP) - Daniel Gaunt and Scott Jamieson both fired opening-round six-under-par 65s to share the lead after day one of the Russian Open on Thursday.
Australian Gaunt hit three birdies, an eagle and a double bogey on the back nine alone, with Scotland s Jamieson picking up six birdies in a round of no dropped shots.
"It was good to bounce back on the 16th and 18th there after a double bogey at 15," Gaunt told europeantour.com.
"Apart from that I played great golf today. I have been playing well. Last week, I wasn t stressed about missing the cut.
"I got told I was playing great golf and I just came out here believing that now and if I can keep that up, one shot at a time, the results will take care of themselves."
Wales Bradley Dredge and England s Lee Slattery were a shot back on 66 at Skolkovo Golf Club.
An eight-player group on four under included defending champion David Horsey, chasing a second victory in three weeks following his win in Denmark, in the first tournament to count for next year s Ryder Cup.
