Summary The soccer star is enjoying a sensational season.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Madame Tussauds in New York unveiled a wax figure of soccer great Lionel Messi in mid-stride as the star forward continues to dazzle on the pitch.
He may not be kicking goals on the pitch, but this wax double of Lionel Messi, is definitely scoring with fans at Madame Tussaud s in New York. The Argentinean soccer star figure is dressed in his 2014 FIFA World Cup uniform. The statue of the famous forward, now playing for FC Barcelona, was the latest sports figure to join the Sports Zone at the wax exhibition house. Twenty studio artists worked to create the figure.
Eric Fluet, head of marketing at the museum says the team looked to capture details from his hair to his dynamic style.
"He was created to look almost like he s floating on the ground mid-kick, where his feet are barely touching the ground. It s very easy to imagine, from this particular position, Lionel scoring a goal,"
The soccer star is enjoying a sensational season. He scored 10 goals in the Champions League alone, including destroying Bayern in Barca s 3-0 first-leg win after scoring twice last week. Some say Messi may be one of the best to ever play the game, right up there with Pele.
One thing is sure, his wax likeness is going to be popular with visitors.
