NICE, France, March 15, 2015 (AFP) - World champion Bradley Wiggins has withdrawn from Sunday s closing time-trial to the Paris-Nice race, his Sky Team announced.

The 2012 Tour de France winner was languishing down in 103rd place in the "Race to the Sun" ahead of the finale which takes place over a 9.3-kilometre climb up the picturesque slopes of the Col d Eze.

The 34-year-old Englishman has said he will retire from road raccing after the Paris-Roubaix classic on April 12 and will concentrate instead on track cycling.
